This original oil painting is 7.5” x 9.75” with a 0.75” white border surrounding (9” x 12”). Crafted on Arches Oil Paper, it was created out of my interest in color theory and creating color studies in preparation for larger paintings. It uses an integrated muted palette with a moment of discord found in the red-orange of the crumpled shirt. I think some of the most beautiful moments are often found in the humble and mundane. This painting made me recall one of my favorite poems, “The Patience of Ordinary Things” by Pat Schneider.
