This original 12” x 9” oil painting was created over the span of 5 years, from 2013-2018, and long spans of time were spent where the painting was not worked on. It underwent a lot of changes and has a rich and layered history that can be glimpsed through thin layers of oil paint. The final inspiration came and the painting was completed in a way concurrent to my most recent painting discoveries. It can be read as a portrait, or an abstract landscape- the interpretation is up to the viewer, although I see both the portrait and landscape as being integrated and inseparable.
