This original oil painting is 6.25” x 9” with a 0.75” white border surrounding (7.75” x 10.75”). Crafted on Arches Oil Paper, it was created out of my interest in color theory and creating color studies in preparation for larger paintings. I have always adored earthy-yellow ochres. It’s a pigment that feels straight from the earth; like it was dug out of the ground with a shovel and delivered straight to my palette. I look around my studio and see primarily yellow these days; I’m putting a little of it in everything. This color exploration uses arbitrary color to mirror the heightened state of awareness, interconnectedness, and depth of experience I find in the natural world
